Saratoga NY Kennel Club supports responsible purebred dog breeding and encourages its members to do appropriate health testing on the parents and relatives and to support their puppy families with advice and education. When looking for a puppy, the club highly encourages people to visit the parent (national) club of the breed/s they are considering, i.e., The American Rottweiler Club, Newfoundland Dog Club of America, Poodle Club of America, etc. At these sites, one can learn about the specific health issues for that breed and the appropriate health testing, the activity level, grooming needs, and personality of that breed. Plus, there is usually a breeders list available. The club is also happy to answer questions about breeds and breeders.
